sentirti : crescere
An immersive multimedia concert that turns the laboratory of a brewery into a living sonic space. Through song, memories and electronic experimentation, the audience is immersed in the sounds of fermentation.
A project by Maya Schrödl (performer & biologist) and Corrado Cerutti (composer, improviser, sound artist), premiered for the In\Visible Cities festival in Gorizia.
Could you hear yourself grow?
Fermentation is a process that usually stays silent. Inside closed tanks, yeast transforms and quietly grows. We grow and ferment too, together with the memories and experiences we usually keep quiet and collected.
And what if we could hear all this? sentirti : crescere makes that ferment audible in a space that doesn't usually express itself through sound: the laboratory of a brewery — a sterile, highly controlled environment of tanks, tubes and cables. Using the space as a resonating chamber, the science of fermentation can be experienced, for a moment, through sound.
The concert is an immersive soundscape built from three elements: a memory box — stories, memories, sounds and melodies recorded in and around Gorizia, voices recounting radical changes and everyday anecdotes, clinking glasses, fermenting bubbles; improvised singing; and the resonance of the space itself. These voices and sounds merge with electronic experimentation into a sonic story of fermentation.
