Bestiario Presente

Bestiario Presente is a dance suite written for my final concert at the Jazzcampus in Basel (24 August 2025). It stands for two almost opposite things in my growth: the end of a path of study, and the feeling that it is no longer possible to stay still, after years spent in the world of jazz chasing realities I finally understood did not belong to me.

My first goal was to create two worlds each fragile on its own, but stronger together, supporting each other in their weaknesses. I bring out only a certain percentage of the complexity and leave the rest to the moment, to improvisation and to the dancers: learning to leave space for something I cannot control, and to accept it with serenity.

The other great inspiration was Italo Calvino's imagination in describing us humans through simple animals granting them a role far greater than mere creatures, almost mythological beasts that, through their experience, speak to us in profound ways.
